In this framework, it presents a series of examples related to the profound transformations brought into European societies by the ideological and political movements of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century, the establishment of national states, the two world conflicts of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, as well as the political and ideological consequences of the Cold War.
