Emphasis is on the definition of the rules of mathematical perspective for the representation of space, which re-define the artistic representation of time and space in that era. The course concludes with the analysis of the work of the leading painters and sculptors of the High Renaissance and Mannerism. The aim of the course is to examine the artworks within their historic, political, economic and intellectual context of the given period, in order to understand the characteristics of their composition and style.
