A doctoral diploma certifies the essential contribution of its holder to the evolution of key cognitive areas, an in-depth understanding of the corresponding scientific area and the development of an original dissertation in the fields of History and Archaeology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">PhD candidates should hold:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Degree from a higher education institute<\/li>\n<li>MSc, MPhil<\/li>\n<li>Certificate for sufficient knowledge of English, German, French or Italian<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Persons interested in PhD studies at the Department should submit <a href=\"https:\/\/ha.upatras.gr\/en\/docs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an application<\/a> to the Secretariat of the Department together with:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Detailed CV<\/li>\n<li>Copies of certificates<\/li>\n<li>Certificate by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC) (for degrees from non-Greek institutes)<\/li>\n<li>Transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Statement of Purpose<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of sufficient knowledge of at least one EU language (preferably, English)<\/li>\n<li>A recommendation letter by professors and\/or researchers<\/li>\n<li>Copies of publications or projects (undergraduate or graduate), if any<\/li>\n<li>Acceptance statement from the faculty member intended to act as the supervisor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Evaluation of submitted applications is conducted on behalf of the PhD studies Committee which evaluates all submitted applications and corresponding material and makes a proposal to the Assembly of the Department regarding the acceptance or rejection of submitted applications. The Assembly of the Department makes the final decision on the accepted proposals and also regarding the writing language which can be either Greek or English.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the constitution of the supervising committee, a period of at least three (3) years is required before the PhD thesis defence.
